SEND Information Report
At Stowmarket High School we value all our students and work hard to ensure that students with SEND have access to the same opportunities as all of our students. We provide them with the necessary support and skills to allow them to access the curriculum and develop in confidence and self-esteem. The special educational needs co-ordinator at Stowmarket High School liaises with partner Primary schools so that most students who have special educational needs have been identified before their arrival.
Classroom support is provided by a team of Learning Support Assistants and is structured to enable students to access the curriculum. We strive at all times to implement the principles of the SEND Code of Practice and aim to establish good working relationships with parents/carers. We carry out cognitive assessments on students on the SEND register to monitor their progress and to ascertain whether they would benefit from extra support in their exams.
The Learning Support Department has a multi-agency approach to supporting young people. We intend to provide every opportunity for our young people to make a successful transition into adult life.
