Jewellery, Hairstyles and Mobile Phones Guidance

The only jewellery which is permitted to be worn is two small, studded earrings, a wrist watch, one small discreet necklace, one bracelet/band and one ring. No facial jewellery is allowed to be worn anywhere on the school site and this includes clear piercings.

Hairstyles which are ‘extreme’ or attract undue attention are not allowed – e.g., shaven styles or dyed hair (unless natural colour and appearance). It is important to contact your Head of Year before having a hairstyle which may be considered inappropriate. The Headteacher’s interpretation of these descriptions is final

Any jewellery or nail polish must be removed for reasons of health and safety if requested by staff. False/gel nails are not allowed.

Hats, caps and other headgear should not be worn on the school site except out of doors as protection from the weather. Students may wear head coverings for religious reasons.

Mobile Phones

Under no circumstances are students allowed to use mobile phones on the school site unless a staff member say they can. Our expectation is ‘on site, out of sight’.

Staff may give students permission to use their phones during lessons and this will be communicated with students.

Any infringement of this rule will result in the mobile phone being confiscated until the end of the school day.  Repeated mobile phone infringements may result in the phone having to be collected by a parent or carer for any reoccurrence.

Similarly, students should no be wearing or using earbuds/headphones. If they are wearing any of these items, they will be confiscated in the same way as we do with mobile phones.

No liability will be accepted by the school for loss, theft or damage of mobile phones and any other valuable items and students are expected to take care of their own belongings.
